![]() Twice I was told "The door is right there." In all my life, I have never met someone so rude. For some reason this was unacceptable (even though we were still willing to pay the extra $5/person for being in a large group) and I was asked to take my group and leave. Then, since this was our last planned stop of the day, a bunch of people in the group had decided not to do a tasting, but rather to buy a bottle and go sit outside so I was having a hard time getting a headcount and asked if we could pay in smaller groups - just getting a glass as we paid. ![]() He started by telling me that he didn't speak to me on the phone, that I must have left a voicemail or should have emailed because he almost never answers the phone (is this how you run a business?). From the minute we walked in, we were treated rudely. I called ahead, as I always do and spoke to someone who told me that it would not be a problem - they even told me that they suggest brining a picnic lunch to enjoy while there. I had never been there before, but had heard good things. This year, Maugle Sierra was on the itinerary. I plan a trip annually on which I get around 20 people on a bus and travel to a few of the local vineyards. I have been to many of the vineyards in CT, I've been to the Finger Lakes, Long Island, Napa, and I have never been treated as horribly as I was at Maugle Sierra this past weekend.
